You ever find yourself confused by a song, in the sense that you can’t tell whether it’s quality or if your neurons and synapses are being tricked into enjoying it? I have that mental debate about Young Thug on the regular, and I’m having it again here with “Imagine,” a collaborative track by two artists that are primarily enjoyed by sorority girls and people who write PLUR on their knuckles. That’s a little unfair, they’re probably all really lovely people, and their output isn’t poor. It’s just that you could easily file this song under “For fans of The Chainsmokers” with it’s cliched construction, yet I cannot help but get caught up in its peaks, the repetition of the “Imagine” vocals escalating my senses.
