Listening to Dream Wife, it’s not difficult to hear the fusion of their British and Icelandic roots. Their work carries the punch and snark of a London punk outfit but with the charm and pop sensibilities that seem inescapable from Nordic artists (black metal acts aside). With their new single “Somebody,” these rising rock stars offer a fantastic feminist anthem, with the rallying cry “I am not my body, I am somebody.” For as much as female artists get sidelined, or discussed in an objectifying nature, it’s always great to hear stuff like this. As the band describes in their press release:

‘Somebody’ is a ballad for women. The song explores the experience of living in a female body within our society. It’s a conversation on the reclamation of bodies by the women who occupy them in a tender, yet direct and empowering way.”
